The vaccine was found to be more than 90% effective, according to clinical tests conducted and released by the company. For months, researchers have claimed that a vaccine might only be 60% or 70% effective. 


"I’ve been in development of vaccine for 35 years,” William Gruber, Pfizer’s senior vice president of vaccine clinical research and development, told. “I’ve seen some really good things. This is extraordinary.” He also added: “This really bodes well for us being able to get a handle on the epidemic and get us out of this situation.”

Michael Osterholm, director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Diseases Research and Policy said "Without more information, it’s too early to predict how much of an impact the vaccine could make".


The study conducted had 43,538 volunteers and 38,955 have received their second dose of vaccine. Among them are 42% of global participants. Also 30% of U.S. participants have racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds.


Analysts have estimated that the Covid-19 vaccine developed could be worth $100 billion which will have a 40% profit margins from which Pfizer could grab $15 billion in profit.
