Bihar Election Update : NDA to prove exit polls wrong?

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) which consists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Janata Dal (United, and a few regional parties is set to prove the exit polls wrong and will likely retain the power in Bihar.

The BJP is currently leading in 72 seats, while Nitish Kumar's JDU is ahead in 49 Assembly constituencies. According to these reports, the NDA should be able to get past the figure of 122 in the 243-member House. Meanwhile, in the Mahagathbandhan, the Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is ahead in 66 seats and the Congress in 21.

Due to the special coronavirus pandemic situation, the Election Commission had decided the maximum number of voters per booth from a maximum of 1,000 to 1,500. This has led to an increase in the number of polling booths, from where votes are to be counted on Tuesday.

This is the main reason which is causing counting to be slower than usual, with only 10% of the vote was counted till noon. Opposition has claimed that in multiple seats, counting may go up to 30 to 35 rounds, which might help them in making a comeback, particularly with 70 seats so far with wafer-thin margins.
