PM Modi claims New Parliament building will be the foundation of "Atmanirbhar Bharat"
On Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new building of Parliament. The foundation ceremony was attended by Union home minister Amit Shah, Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, defence minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla.
The new parliament building will be construted on area of 64,500 sq metres, near from Rashtrapati Bhavan, and is the major highlight of the government's ambitious 20,000-crore Central Vista project.
The new Parliament building will be triangular in shape, and it's interiors will have three national symbols as their main themes -- Lotus, Peacock and Banyan Tree.
The architect said that it's designed in a triangular shape as it lays on a triangular plot and has three main spaces - Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and a Central Lounge.
The building will cost Rs 971 crore and is believed to be completed by 2022. Om Birla said that the new parliament building will be the prime example of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
PM Modi claimed this day to be a milestone in Indian History. Pm said that the old Parliament constructed by the Britishers gave a new path to India after its Independence and the new one will be a foundation of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
