National Mathematics Day : History of the day and it's Significance

National Mathematics Day or Math Day is celebrated on Deceber 22 to pay respect to the birth anniversary of Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar.



Before dying at the age of just 32 from tuberculosis, Ramanujan already gave the world around 3500 mathematical formulas that 

modern scientists have still not been able to completely prove. This day is celebrated to raise awareness among people about the importance of mathematics for the development of humanity.

Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar is often called as the "man who knew infinity". Though he had no formal education in pure mathematics, Ramanujan made huge impactful contributions in mathematics field and developed numerous theorems.
